Do air cadets get to fly?
Joining the Air Cadets opens up lots of opportunities, including the chance to fly! It’s our aim to get you airborne as often as possible, as a passenger in a light aircraft, a glider or even on-board RAF aircraft such as our Typhoon fast-jet or a Chinook helicopter.
What does CI stand for in air cadets?

How old must I be to join? You can join when you’re between 13, or 12 if you’re already in year 8 at school, and usually leave when you’re 20.
Are air cadets part of the military?
Together with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets and Royal Canadian Army Cadets, it forms the “largest federally funded youth program in the country”. Cadets are not members of the military and are not obliged to join the Canadian Forces.

We’re a proud not-for-profit whose aim is to instill leadership and honourable values in our Canadian youth to inspire them to be the change-makers of tomorrow. 856 Squadron is an Air Cadet Squadron located in Pickering, Ontario.
How many Air Cadets are in Canada?
With over 150 cadets, our youth organization promotes good citizenship, leadership, physical fitness, and supports the interest of youth in the sea, land, and air activities of the Canadian Forces. 856 Air Cadets parades at the East Shore Community Centre on Wednesday nights between 1830hrs – 2130hrs.
What is an Air Cadet Squad?
The organization is made up many training centres, gliding centres, and most importantly, the squadrons, of which every cadet is a part of. 180 Mosquito Squadron is named after the De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito, one of the most successful military aircraft of World War II, and is one of over 450 Air Cadet squadrons across Canada.
